The Bridge to Easter

John 3:16 is only 26 words and yet those few words have inspired and equipped people all over the world with Hope. Martin Luther’s called this text, “The Gospel in the Gospel.” In our Tuesday night study, Max Lucado said, “If you know nothing else about the Bible, start here. If you know everything about the Bible, return here. We all need the reminder.”

By now you know our Lenten journey has focused on this text as a bridge to experience Jesus’s extraordinary promise of new life. To bring the point home, I am actually building a bridge in our sanctuary! Yet, to be honest, we all face obstacles that prevent us from getting over the chasm caused by sin. Already. we have identified how legalism, judgmentalism, stubbornness, pride, idolatry and other behaviors keep us from the life God intends. This week we will see the only One who holds our hand so we can cross over to Easter joy.

Each Sunday we have begun by singing, “Love Can Build a Bridge,” and John 3:16 continues to tell us how it’s possible.

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” John‬ ‭10‬:‭28‬ ‭NIV‬‬
