Sunday’s a Comin’

Sunday’s a Comin’ Let us lay aside every weight and run the race with endurance Hebrews 12:1
Are you an over packer? I mean when you are going on a trip, do you pack for all contingencies, even the most improbable, just in case you need a heavy coat and boots at the beach, or a swim suit on a mountain adventure. Now there is wisdom in always being prepared, as I learned in Boy Scouts, but  we can go overboard and check too many bags of stuff that weigh us down.
This series is about traveling light. Perhaps you have overpacked a few bags along the way. We can stuff our suitcases with regrets, guilt, fear, worry, stress and anger. No wonder we are so exhausted. Lugging luggage is exhausting.

As we continue our New Year’s series, I am hoping we can all see what God is telling us to unpack and unload from our spiritual journeys. While I am still learning the difference between downloading and uploading files on my PC, this is series about UNLOADING files (aka burdens) that fill our mind, bodies and souls.

Too often we carrying burdens we don’t need to bear and fight battles that’s already been one. Jesus invites us to “Come to me all of you who’re weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). If we let him, God will lighten our loads.

Tomorrow we will look at one of the heaviest suitcases we all will carry at some time in our lives- the weight of grief. Jesus never promised we would escape having to grieve, but He does promise to transform our hopeless grief into hope-filled grief and ultimately joy. But how?

Come and see,
Pastor Rob

“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬
