Series Sermon: A Church without Walls

As we’ve been meeting outside in our new shelter, being a church without walls is both a reality and a great metaphor for the Body of Christ. As disciples of Jesus how are we breaking down the barriers between us and our surroundings to show God’s love to a broken world?

One Sunday a child was asked by his parents, “What did you learn in church today? The Sunday School lesson was about being good stewards of God’s creation by learning to recycle waste while the pastor’s sermon during worship was on discipleship. His seven-year-old mind condensed both lessons into one with this answer: “I learned that discipling can save the planet.”

I think Jesus would agree, but just how are we “disciplining” today? Tomorrow after receiving the Body of Christ I hope to ask that very question.
