When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place” (Acts 2:1) Pentecost was one of the three feast days on which all the Jewish men were required to appear in Jerusalem at least once in their lifetime. It was on Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came suddenly from heaven upon the waiting disciples. Because of the Holy Spirit, each prayerful follower could speak with such power that people from all over the world heard the story of Jesus in “their own language” (Acts 2:6 NIV). He empowered Christ followers to declare the wonders of God in the heart languages of the world – you know, our mission. Now your pastor is wondering……as we gather in one place tomorrow, is it possible for that same source of strength from heaven to empower little ol’ us? Think about it, the Holy Spirit is not subject to politics, weather patterns, pandemics, stock markets, debts crisis or even our aging bodies. He does not answer to any government or organization. He is unfazed by all the problems that faze us. He is the Holy Spirit and He still comes. So, let us gather together in one place on Pentecost and see what happens. Pastor Rob |
