“Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” Mark 12:43-44
Ok, I ended last Sunday’s service with a teaser about next Sunday’s message which would be on a topic I have not touched on since I have been your pastor. I believe my reluctance has little to do with the importance of the subject or it’s sensitive nature as much as it has been so misused and abused by those in my position. That’s right, it’s about money, or to be more specific, giving.
Now don’t worry, it’s not a pledge Sunday or anything, but it is a continuing focus on how to live a life of meaning and purpose – one transformed by meeting Jesus. This time we will look at Jesus’s response to a poor widow who gave everything to God.
Once again you are invited to the well remembering Jesus’s promise, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:37-38 NIV
Spiritual thirst is quenched only by Christ himself.
Come and see,
