The Resurrection Means Death is Defeated Pt. 1

What do you think Jesus hates most?

I know, I’m always talking about the love of God, and how Jesus is all about compassion, mercy and grace, but are there things the Son of God hates?

In the climatic story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead, found in John 11, we have a clue. When told to come quick because His good friend lay dying, Jesus seems to have gotten there way too late. Lazarus is stone cold dead. As Miracle Max says in the “Princess Bride,” when he explains the difference between mostly dead and all dead, “with all dead there is only one thing left to do. Go through his clothes and look for loose change.” Lazarus is “all dead.” (Remember, Jesus was also “ all dead,” when they laid him the tomb on that Good Friday.

And then it happens, the real miracle. In discovering what Jesus hates the most we also discover what (or who), he loves the most.

Come and see,

Pastor Rob
