“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” Ephesians 4:3-4, 6 NIV
So, can we ever truly be one united people?
Past history and current events reveal this is an unlikely possibility. However, according to Genesis we were all created in the image of God. That means you, me, the jerk that cut us off in traffic, the politician that makes our skin crawl, our best friends and our worst enemies – both the teenage girl who got an abortion and the unborn child. If we truly believe all are created in God’s image could racism or bigotry exist? Can you imagine what our society would look like if everyone embraced the image of God in every person? Perhaps, a little more like heaven.
So if heaven is like that, we had better start practicing now. Paul tells us how.
