A series on the Book of James
“Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.” James 4:8 RSV
The psalmist asks, “When can I go and meet with God?” (Psalms 42:2) As we look at the state of the world and the evil that is so prevalent, we may also ask, “Where are you God?” Is God far off in the heavens, or near?
God is more than near – he’s active. God is in the thick of things in our world. He has not removed himself from history. God is not seated on some ethereal throne in the heavens. He has drawn near. God is involved in every aspect of our daily routines from our birth to our funerals. The Lord is nearby. You may feel alone, but there is never a moment in which you face life without help. God is nearby.
Do you believe God is nearby? He wants you to. He wants you to know he is in the midst of your world. Wherever you are now right now, he is present.
Hebrews 10:21-22 reminds us, “Since we have a great high priest [Jesus] over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings.
Tomorrow you are once again invited to come, worship and draw near to the heart of God.
Also, tomorrow is “Friend Day” Yes, I know every Sunday is a friendly day here, but this day we ask each of you to invite an unchurched friend to come and experience what 3 Oaks is all about.
We will have a luncheon afterwards, so bring a friend….and a dish!
